SUPPORTING CIRCULAR ECONOMY
For decades, at JOSÉ GISBERT, we have been working with recycled materials, making use of textile manufacturing waste, which, after being treated and processed, return to the production process in order to create new fabrics and recover their best properties.
But it has been in recent years that it seems like we have all become aware of the need to take care of our environment, and an entire way of thinking and doing things is completely changing our lives.
A MORE SUSTAINABLE WORLD IS POSSIBLE
Faced with increasingly scarce natural resources and alarming levels of waste generation, it is necessary to redesign the production system and think about new materials, processes, and practices that are more sustainable and respectful of people and the environment that surrounds us.
The time is now, that’s for sure. Our behaviors and attitudes must be geared towards preserving the environment. Together, we must build a fairer society, not only environmentally but also socially.
We are clear about this; the fundamental tool for addressing this change is INNOVATION.
Our Sustainability Policy
That’s why we have taken a giant step forward, revolutionizing everything within our organization. The people who make up the JOSÉ GISBERT team have committed themselves from the first to the last, to take care of every detail of our production, with special attention, using the best sustainable raw materials, innovating in the production process, ensuring the best working conditions, and always controlling the minimal impact on our environment.
In this regard, we have also made the commitment to use renewable energy in our production process. A photovoltaic installation on our roof allows us to consume clean energy, and in this way, with the help of other waste control measures, we significantly reduce our carbon footprint.
Furthermore, we collaborate with suppliers and partners close to us, most of them regional and national, or in any case, from countries in our vicinity.
Sustainability Report
For all these reasons, we have decided to create our first Sustainability Report, to document our actions in favor of the 2030 Agenda and the steps we are taking in terms of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility).
At JOSÉ GISBERT, we are concerned about the impact of our actions on the environment, at the economic, social, and environmental levels, and we strive for continuous improvement in all our processes, aligning ourselves with some of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed in the 2030 Agenda.
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
In 2015, the United Nations General Assembly established 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the framework of the 2030 Agenda. At JOSÉ GISBERT, we are convinced that a better world is possible, and we can achieve it through fairer and more environmentally friendly practices.
Current Achieved Objectives
We have already aligned ourserlves with 9 of the SDGs:
- GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
- AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY
- DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH
- SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES
- RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION
- CLIMATE ACTION
- UNDERWATER LIFE
- PEACE, JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS
- CREATION OF PARTNERSHIPS FOR OUR GOALS
Our goals in this area are :
- Align our products and processes with the UN’s sustainable development goals.
- Raise awareness among our stakeholders about sustainability and environmental commitments to increase awareness of climate change.
- Support social responsibility.
Are you familiar with our sustainable fabrics?
And that’s how SENSAT was born, a brand we wanted to create out of commitment, because every step counts, and doing things right matters, with respect and sensitivity towards people and our environment.
SENSAT Eco Friendly Fabrics was born to offer a complete range of fabrics in the market made from various types of recycled materials, others made from organic cotton and ecological materials, all developed under sustainability and efficiency parameters.
We research and innovate in our production process to make it increasingly environmentally friendly.
Organic Fabrics
Fabrics of plant origin that use organic cotton as a raw material. The cotton used comes from organic farming, cultivated without pesticides or herbicides, respecting the necessary cycles to avoid soil nutrient depletion.
Fabrics obtained from this type of cotton are also free of toxins, so when they come into contact with the skin, no harmful substances are absorbed, making them much more pleasant and comfortable.
Eco-friendly Fabrics
The LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Viscose that we choose to compose some of our fabrics comes from certified and controlled renewable wood sources. By using a responsible production process, it achieves significantly lower use of fossil energy and water compared to generic viscose.
The fabrics made from LINEN, JUTE, HEMP, BAMBOO, and PINEAPPLE also come from sustainable crops, with controlled water consumption, minimal use of herbicides and pesticides, almost non-existent, and controlled erosion of the topsoil
Recycled Fabrics
We manufacture fabrics whose raw materials are recycled. This means we use materials that have already had a previous application or have been discarded in the manufacturing process so that at the end of their useful life, they are no longer seen as useless waste but are recycled to be processed again, returning them to the production cycle.
This is known as the “Circular Economy,” and by applying its philosophy to our production system, we contribute to the sustainable industry, where there is no possibility that products at the end of their life cannot be reused through a suitable channel.
Vegan Fabrics
We are committed to manufacturing fabrics that are free of raw materials or components of animal origin, and that have not been tested on animals either.
There is increasing awareness of the environmental and health impacts of our daily lives, and this, of course, also extends to our consumption habits, including the choice of fabrics.
JOSÉ GISBERT’s fabrics are backed by recognized official certifications for quality and ecological responsibility.
